Irrigation & Landscape Questions:
Unfortunately, I simply don't have the time to answer most individual questions about your landscape or irrigation. This website is a very time-consuming public service, not my job. If you send a landscape or irrigation question it is likely I will not answer it, so please be warned and don't get mad at me! PLEASE DO NOT TELEPHONE ME WITH QUESTIONS. Thank-you very much for understanding!
Here are a few suggestions for getting answers to your questions:
Step One:
The best place to start if you have a question is with a search of the website by entering a search phrase below. The answers to the most common questions are here if you dig deep enough. (This search engine searches all of my websites.)
(This search feature is provided by Google and is subject to Google's privacy policy.)
Step Two:
- Orbit Click here.
- Hunter Click here.
- Rainbird - 1-800-RAINBIRD
- Toro 1-800-348-2424
- Zurn/Wilkins 1-877-222-5356 (backflow preventer questions, they will help you with any brand)
Step Three:
Try a local store or nursery. For irrigation questions go to a store that specializes in irrigation equipment. I haven't found that the employees at hardware and home-center stores are knowledgeable on irrigation. I often check out the irrigation department of those stores to look for new products, and I overhear a LOT of bad advice being given by their employees. About 80% of what I overhear is at least marginally misleading. Some of the advice is not just bad, it is just flat wrong! There are some shining exceptions, of course, and if you work at one of those stores I'm sure that you are one of them! But the bottom line is that you are better off going to a professional irrigation specialty store if you need irrigation advice, and even then use care.
Step Four:
Chances are if you haven't found the answer at this point you are in over your head. It often pays to know when to quit! Ask at a local irrigation store or nursery for the name of a reputable local designer or repair person to hire. For complex irrigation design problems try the American Society of Irrigation Consultants.
Step Five:
You can try asking me, sometimes I will answer if I'm not busy with other things. Keep in mind that I make my living selling my knowledge of irrigation! A simple question that I think you can easily research yourself is not likely to get answered.
Comments & Feedback
I welcome your feedback on the websites. If you find a bad link, a link to a porn site (it happens fairly often, a business I link to closes or drops their website, and suddenly a formerly legitimate link now leads to a porn site), or you have suggestions for the tutorials, I would love to hear from you! I do READ and appreciate all input regarding my websites, but please understand if you don't get an answer from me. Consider this my "thank-you" in advance.
Errors: If you find an error in the website please give me the address (URL) of the page you found it on if you can. With several websites and hundreds of pages of content it really helps me in locating the error. Thank you very much for your assistance!
